Grey is a safe color
When the weather is not so great I stick to dark colors and because I don’t want to dress all in black, people say it’s depressing, I add something more happy, like grey. Yeah, funny I know, but let me tell you a bit more about my grey cardigan outfit.
If you are following me on instagram you might have seen my stories about this super cool cardigan that I can’t stop wearing. And Yes, I do literally wear it very very often, maybe too often if I think about it. I really love it because it keeps me warm and even if it’s so simple and grey, it also stands out because of the eyelets and rings details. It’s so easy to mix and match but yet it could easily be the centerpiece of a casual out .
Whenever I want to make a simple outfit like this one stand out, I play with textures. I picked out these vintage high waist leather shorts and a simple black top. Then to give it more of an artistic touch, I opted for my adorned grey hat that I pimped up a few years ago and some dotted stockings to go with it. Because no casual look is complete without my Wayfarers that I can’t live without whenever the sun comes out a bit. No look is complete without a bag, in this case, my trusty Zac Posen I got from the states. Because I am short, I went for some high heeled ankle boots, nothing special.
Other ideas on how to wear a grey cardigan
If you want to play with colors, but still keep it on the safe side, add some pastels to color the greys a bit. If you want something deeper, try a dark wine or dark emerald that could just make the grey look even more clean and crisp.
Prints are a good idea for extra texture, if you like prints of course. Go for geometric patterns that would complete the eyelet holes in an artistic manner.
But if you want to be very creative with this grey cardigan outfit idea, try layering. A leather waistcoat over it or a vest and a top under it to be sure it does also keep you warm not only look pretty.
