How to Wear a Dress in Winter

Probably the first thing you think about when you hear maxi dresses in winter is dragging a pile of snow with you on the hemline of your new dress. Or maybe you are wondering how to wear a dress in winter when it’s so cold outside?

This could be the exact thing that could happen, in some cases. But I am not saying that you should wear a maxi dress in the daytime, when it’s been snowing heavily for the past few days.

I am talking about wearing dresses in winter, when it is cold outside, but you don’t have more than 1-2 cm of snow on the sidewalk.

Now that we’ve cleared that out, let’s see how you can wear your favorite maxi dress this winter.

Your whole look mainly depends on how cold it is outside, so keep that in mind.

I prepared two looks that you can adapt to your own personality and existing wardrobe of course.

Tips on how to wear a dress in winter:

First thing to keep in mind is being warm, so get yourself some warm tights under that hot dress.

When it comes to footwear, slip-proof soles are the best picks. You don’t want to fall flat on your ass while trying to stay stylish. Even if you opt for heels, be sure your soles are fit for the weather.

If you don’t want to layer over, try layering under the dress to keep your body temperature at the right level. I always go for a bodysuit under my clothes when it’s really cold outside.

Now let’s see what options we have when trying to style it.

I chose only one piece of jewelry, my new choker from the Happiness Boutique which is enough to add that extra spice to the whole look.

For one outfit, I just added a thick pullover over the dress and if it would have been even colder, I would have worn a woolen coat over too.

For the other, I went for a leather jacket. Surely, that days was pretty warm so I didn’t even bother to grab a scarf, but it would have looked pretty nice with it too.

As for footwear, A pair of high heeled patent leather boots is the best choice in my opinion. It would be a beautiful contrast between the edgy print of the dress giving the whole look a rock and roll edge.
